Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday said the 850 hectares of land in Krtsanisi and Gonio, included in the UAE-based global developer Eagle Hills project, would be used solely for development purposes, with the state remaining a co-owner.

“Regarding the Krtsanisi and Gonio plots, which total 850 hectares, the project allows their use only for development purposes and the state remains a co-owner. Therefore, no Georgian land will be transferred to anyone,” he said.

He highlighted that claims suggesting the Government was handing over land to foreign investors were unfounded.

“It was the Georgian Dream Government that passed a constitutional amendment prohibiting the sale of agricultural land to foreigners and foreign companies. Georgia is also a leading country in combating illegal migration”, the PM added.
