Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday claimed that small-scale protests in Georgia resembled demonstrations staged abroad under “identical scenarios” and were organised from outside the country.

Speaking to journalists in Shanghai, Kobakhidze said such protests were coordinated by “foreign agents” and their “patrons,” adding that these efforts had no chance of success against the will of the Georgian people.

“These are typical actions of foreign agents. You can look at other countries, I will not name them, where rallies of 100 or 150 people unfold under the same script. It is one handwriting, because such things are planned abroad and then foreign agents implement the scenario. The same applies to Georgia.

“I am not saying that everyone who gathers there is an agent, but the process itself is driven by foreign forces with the help of foreign agents. They try to create an illusion, but in reality, there is no genuine protest”, Kobakhidze said.

He added that the Georgian people had “clearly expressed” their will for the country’s development and “no attempt by foreign agents or their sponsors” would succeed in changing that.
