PM Kobakhidze speaks of unprecedented foreign interference in election process

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has accused external forces of trying to interfere in Georgia’s election process, specifically highlighting cards published by the US Embassy as part of these efforts. According to Kobakhidze, the primary aim of these materials is to influence voter decisions ahead of the election.

“This election process is taking place amid unprecedented foreign interference. The cards from the US Embassy have one goal: to influence the will of Georgian voters. Those preparing these cards inside the embassy are driven by a single motive—to sway the election. However, neither these cards nor any other actions will impact the will of the Georgian people,” Kobakhidze said.

He further stated that public support for the ruling party currently stands at 60%, expressing optimism that it will surpass this figure by election day.

“We are doing everything we can, and with three weeks left, we will continue to work hard to increase our support,” he added.

Kobakhidze also addressed US Ambassador Robin L. Dunnigan, urging her to closely examine the actions of her embassy staff, particularly those responsible for creating what he called misleading materials.

“I would ask the US Ambassador, who generally views matters rationally, to take a deeper look at the work of her employees, especially those preparing these false cards,” Kobakhidze commented.
