Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held a high-level meeting with representatives from over 80 sectors of the country’s business community, focusing on Georgia’s record-breaking economic growth, employment gains, and anti-corruption measures.
According to the Government Administration, the meeting highlighted Georgia’s strong economic performance, with the country ranking first in both the wider region and Europe for economic growth. The Prime Minister emphasized that continued economic development is critical to strengthening Georgia’s global standing and would remain a key government priority.
Kobakhidze noted that 68,000 new jobs were created last year, a result largely attributed to the private sector. He thanked business leaders for their role in expanding employment and driving the economy forward.
The Prime Minister also addressed positive fiscal trends, low inflation rates, and the stability of the national currency. He pledged that the government is actively working to accelerate economic growth even further.
A key focus of the meeting was the government’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption. Kobakhidze outlined recent personnel changes aimed at promoting integrity in public service and reiterated that corruption remains a major obstacle to economic development. “There is clear political will to reduce corruption to a minimum,” he said, adding that transparency and accountability remain top priorities.
Among the specific reforms discussed were the full transparency of all government legal acts, the elimination of direct sales of public real estate, and closer scrutiny of major public procurement processes, now overseen by the newly established Government Effectiveness Department.
The session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, providing a platform for open dialogue between the Prime Minister and business representatives.
