Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday said reforms implemented in state-owned enterprises have resulted in savings, with changes to excess employment practices generating annual savings of ₾56 million ($20.87mln).
Speaking at a Government meeting, Kobakhidze said the reforms affected Georgian Railways as well as state-owned companies operating in the energy sector. He noted that, alongside institutional reforms, management changes were introduced across these enterprises to improve efficiency.
Kobakhidze added that further savings of ₾646 million ($240.70mln) were achieved through the optimisation of procurement and projects. He said these funds would be redirected toward the development of the railway and energy sectors, contributing to overall economic growth.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that long-standing inefficiencies in the energy sector had been addressed, creating conditions for improved performance. He said the Ministry of Economy would continue work to ensure “tangible improvements” in the sector’s results.
