Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said his official visit to China represented “another step forward” toward further strengthening relations between the two countries, highlighting “growing strategic cooperation and mutual support.”

Speaking to journalists in China on Thursday, Kobakhidze described the trip as “very productive and interesting,” noting that bilateral relations and specific areas of cooperation were discussed during his meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

He emphasized that Georgia received “firm assurances” from Chinese counterparts regarding continued support and facilitation of joint initiatives, adding that both sides shared “strong interest” in expanding their partnership.

“This cooperation holds significant importance for Georgia and for advancing our national strategic interests, which we discussed very openly with our Chinese partners,” Kobakhidze said.

According to the Prime Minister, further engagement was planned to strengthen economic cooperation, partnership and friendship between Georgia and China. He added that similar discussions were also held with the Mayor of Shanghai.

“This visit was another step forward on the path toward deepening Georgia–China relations,” Kobakhidze reiterated.
