Kobakhidze described Khudoni as one of Georgia’s most important strategic projects, which will be implemented at the fastest possible pace.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said that no specific investor has been identified for the Khudoni Hydropower Project, with the Ministry of Economy currently managing the project and preparing proposals for potential investors.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Kobakhidze described Khudoni as one of Georgia’s most important strategic projects, which will be implemented at the fastest possible pace.

“At present, no single investor has been singled out to take on the Khudoni project. The Ministry of Economy is directly handling the project today, including preparing proposals for investors. This is the current status. Khudoni is one of the most significant strategic projects and will proceed as quickly as possible. This is a priority task for the Ministry of Economy, with the full team actively working on it, particularly those in the energy sector,” he said.

On the question of whether the state or a private investor would build the hydropower plant, the prime minister said the matter will be decided through negotiations with potential investors.

“We do not rule out state co-participation in the project, in terms of financial involvement,” Kobakhidze added.
