Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday commented on Georgia’s ties with China while addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, currently taking place in China, noting that leaders of several countries are attending the summit and the accompanying military parade, which has sparked discussion and speculation among some critics.

“People are speculating as if cooperating with China is almost an act of betrayal, but our strategic partnership with China is something we value and protect very carefully. It is extremely important for us, and we are taking concrete political and economic steps to further deepen Georgia-China relations. I am personally committed to this process,” Kobakhidze said, emphasising the significance of the bilateral relationship.
