Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said no case of abuse of power by law enforcement officers will remain without a state response, following the detention of five security officials over alleged violence during the November-December 2025 protests.

Speaking at a government meeting on Friday, Kobakhidze said the officers were accused of violence against specific individuals during the protest period.

The PM described the case as further evidence of the importance of coordination between law enforcement agencies.

He further claimed the government “seeks to maintain high standards of conduct and professionalism,” including during responses to what authorities describe as violent attempts to undermine the constitutional order.

He said the arrests reflected the state’s approach that any excessive use of force by officials must be investigated and punished.

“When we see a violation of the law, a state response is necessary,” Kobakhidze said.
