PM Kobakhidze reaffirms Georgia's non-recognition policy towards occupied territories

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has reiterated the government's commitment to Georgia's territorial integrity, saying Tbilisi will continue to oppose any attempts to legitimize or annex the country's occupied territories.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Kobakhidze said Georgia maintained a clear and consistent policy of non-recognition regarding the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region, which are recognised by Russia as independent states.

"We have a very clear policy. Of course, we cannot accept any attempt at annexation, nor any attempt at so-called recognition. We have a policy of non-recognition," Kobakhidze said.

The prime minister said the government's approach remained firmly focused on protecting Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

"We have a very clear policy related to safeguarding our territorial integrity. Accordingly, we will continue to pursue this policy in a principled manner in the future," he added.
