Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the Government’s goal was to “reset relations from a clean slate and renew the strategic partnership” with the United States.

Speaking to reporters, Kobakhidze welcomed the failure of the so-called “Friends Act”, which he described as hostile to Georgia.

“As for the so-called ‘Friends Act,’ which in reality was an act of hostility against the Georgian people, our state, and our national interests, fortunately it has ultimately failed — and this is very good. We have a concrete goal: to reset relations from a clean slate, with a specific roadmap, and to renew our strategic partnership with the United States. We hope for this outcome, though the rest depends on the new US administration,” Kobakhidze stated.
