PM Kobakhidze: Georgia’s strategic location can make it regional hub

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the country’s strategic geographic location gives it the potential to become a regional hub, stressing the need to maximise Georgia’s economic and connectivity advantages.

Speaking to journalists during his visit to Singapore, Kobakhidze said the Government is focused on expanding the country’s international partnerships, particularly across Asia.

He noted that Georgia maintains close ties with the countries of Central Asia, as well as neighbouring Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey, and aims to further strengthen those relationships. He also highlighted Georgia’s network of free trade agreements as a key advantage in attracting foreign investment and expanding economic cooperation.

“Georgia can become a hub in every sense for different countries. We need to work actively to make the most of this potential,” Kobakhidze said.

The Prime Minister described Singapore as an important partner, citing its leading position in the global economy and expertise in sectors including aviation, information technology, artificial intelligence, healthcare and education.

Kobakhidze added that members of the Georgian delegation, including the ministers of economy and foreign affairs, had held meetings with their Singaporean counterparts to discuss ways of deepening bilateral cooperation. He expressed confidence that the talks would deliver tangible results in the near future.
