Georgian PM claims his party will win local elections in all 64 municipalities

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the ratings of ‘radical opposition’ parties have further declined, leaving them with no chance in the upcoming local elections. Kobakhidze made the statement on Wednesday while speaking to journalists in Uzbekistan.

According to the PM, by refusing to enter Parliament, opposition parties have already dealt a significant blow to themselves, making their participation in local elections pointless.

“I believe they are well aware of their declining ratings, which have dropped even further after the parliamentary elections. They have caused significant damage to themselves—or rather, it was not their own doing but the result of external influences and directives from their sponsors. The orders they followed from abroad inflicted irreparable harm on their political standing.

As a result, their support has plummeted even further, and they stand no chance of achieving success in any municipality, whether in mayoral races or city council elections. Given this situation, their decision to abstain from participating in the elections appears logical. Just as their boycott of Parliament dealt them a severe blow, contesting local elections would serve no purpose and would only expose them to another crushing defeat. Whether they choose to participate or not, they are doomed to face a heavy loss.
