Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said one of the Government’s main priorities was to strengthen the country’s role as a transit hub and enhance regional connectivity.

Speaking at the ceremony marking the completion of construction works on the Rikoti Pass highway, Kobakhidze stressed that the project held particular strategic importance for Georgia in this regard.

“This is exactly what our country needs. Georgia needs development, rapid development, and the implementation of projects like this is the best way to achieve it,” the Prime Minister said.

He thanked all those involved in the project’s implementation and congratulated them on the successful completion of what he described as a unique and significant infrastructure project.
