Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said that according to the ruling party’s internal research, it is leading in all 64 municipalities across the country with a “big advantage”.

Kobakhidze made the remarks when asked about a poll commissioned by the opposition party Lelo. He argued that opposition parties avoid publishing certain surveys because doing so would mean acknowledging their defeat in advance.

“We know what the real picture is. Our party’s results exceed 60 percent nationwide. In Tbilisi, our party support is around 55 percent, and we may even reach up to 60 percent. As for Kakha Kaladze’s rating, it is above 65 percent. Under these circumstances, it is very difficult for them to publish their research, since it would mean admitting their defeat beforehand. That is why their decision not to publish such polls is logical,” Kobakhidze said.
