Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said the country has recorded the fastest economic growth rate in Europe over the past five years, crediting government policy focused on stability and development.
Speaking at a leaders’ panel Mapping Tomorrow, Managing Uncertainties at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Kobakhidze said Georgia’s economic approach, based on peace, progress and connectivity, had delivered strong results.
He said that since 2021, Georgia’s average economic growth rate stood at 9.3%, which he described as the highest in Europe over the period. He added that the country had also begun the current year with strong momentum, reporting 8.4% growth in January and February.
Kobakhidze said the government’s policy had proven successful and was aimed at maintaining stability while ensuring continued economic advancement and stronger regional connectivity.
He also claimed Georgia’s geographic position allowed it to serve as a transit hub for goods, services, energy and digital data, adding that the government intended to further strengthen this role.
The prime minister also said the same approach could support wider regional stability in the South Caucasus, describing Turkey as an important strategic partner for Georgia.
In broader remarks, Kobakhidze referred to global geopolitical tensions, saying international conflicts were affecting trade routes, energy systems and economic stability worldwide.
He also said leaders should prioritise cooperation, dialogue and the well-being of their populations, adding that effective leadership should focus on peace and prosperity.
