Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Tuesday that Tbilisi wants to restore its partnership with the United States “from a clean slate” and is waiting for Washington’s position on the matter.

Speaking on the Public Broadcaster’s programme Active Topic Kobakhidze said Georgia remains committed to a “pragmatic” foreign policy while expressing readiness to rebuild ties with the US.

“Our desire is to restore the partnership with the United States from a clean slate. Here as well, we are waiting for the US position. We are waiting patiently,” he said.

Kobakhidze added that if there is a positive decision and goodwill from the American side, nothing would stand in the way of restoring the strategic partnership between the two countries.

“The most important thing is that we continue to pursue the pragmatic policy we have chosen,” Kobakhidze added.
