Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze called on the European Union’s ambassador to initiate the opening of the accession negotiations immediately, emphasizing Georgia’s unwavering commitment to European integration.
“Let me remind the EU ambassador—put the opening of negotiations on the table, and I will sign today,” Kobakhidze declared during a press conference on Sunday. He criticized claims suggesting the Georgian government had halted the European integration process, calling them falsehoods.
“There is ongoing disinformation that Georgia has stopped its European integration efforts. From the very beginning, we have emphasized—and continue to do so—that not only are we not halting the process, but we are intensifying our efforts to ensure Georgia’s EU membership by 2030,” Kobakhidze stated.
The Prime Minister also expressed concern over the participation of the EU ambassador in what he described as a “disinformation campaign” orchestrated by the radical opposition and affiliated NGOs and media.
“This shameful and alarming trend seriously undermines the Georgian public’s trust in European bureaucracy. Instead of blackmail, we demand a dignified approach from European institutions—one that reflects the expectations of the Georgian people,” Kobakhidze concluded.
