Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has alleged that a so-called “deep state” was obstructing Pawel Herczyński, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, from fulfilling his diplomatic duties.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze suggested that Herczyński was “being coerced into making statements detrimental to his reputation within Georgian society.” He further expressed sympathy for Herczyński’s situation, describing it as “very tragic and sad.”
“Pawel Herczyński is not being allowed to work as an ambassador. He is in a very difficult situation, being forced to make statements that will have a very negative impact on his image in the eyes of Georgian society,” Kobakhidze said.
He further alleged that this obstruction was driven by the “deep state,” which he claims is preventing Herczyński from performing his diplomatic duties.
