Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday warned no one would remain unpunished for the violence directed at the state and law-enforcement agencies during recent protests, saying authorities now had far greater resources to identify perpetrators than in previous years.

Speaking at a briefing at the Georgian Dream party offices, Kobakhidze said several arrests had already been made - principally of those he described as organisers of an attempted overthrow - and that more people could expect to face legal consequences.

“Nobody will remain unpunished. We have far more resources to identify the perpetrators than we did last year or the year before. Many people should expect to face punishment for the violence they committed against the state and law-enforcement bodies. The law will be applied to them very strictly”, he said.

Kobakhidze urged the investigative process to continue and stressed the Government’s determination to hold those responsible to account.
