Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday celebrated the launch of a new phase in Borjomi mineral water production during the opening ceremony of the upgraded factory in Kvibisi, Borjomi.
“This marks a new and even more ambitious stage in the history of Borjomi mineral water production. Just two years after work began, an international-standard factory spanning 48,000 square meters has opened here,” Kobakhidze said.
The factory features four state-of-the-art bottling lines with an initial capacity of 750 million bottles per year, which is expected to reach one billion by 2030. The project represents ₾120 million ($44.62mln) investment, the largest in the sector since Georgia’s independence.
“Borjomi is not only Georgia’s historic leader in the mineral water industry, it is also a national brand recognized worldwide. This factory bridges 135 years of heritage with modern European production culture. It is built with energy-efficient materials, and every stage of production meets the highest international ecological standards”, Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the project’s social impact: “Around 600 local residents will gain stable employment, supporting as many families and creating new opportunities for prosperity and development throughout the Borjomi region. The company continues to innovate with new products, including Borjomi lemonade and additional water lines, and is expanding its presence in the United States, China, and the Middle East.”
