Georgia’s PM Irakli Kobakhidze has underlined the government’s commitment to a “consistent peace policy”, as he addressed a ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the Georgian Defence Forces.
Speaking at an event in Vaziani, he said that despite growing regional and global challenges, peace remained the foundation for the country’s unity and development.
“Peace is the basis for the country’s unification and progress,” he said, adding that the government continued to prioritise stability while strengthening defence capabilities.
He noted that Georgia’s Defence Forces were now institutionally stronger than ever, pointing to a modern General Staff, regional commands and specialised units.
The PM also highlighted the importance of military education, citing the role of the David Agmashenebeli National Defence Academy of Georgia and the Cadet Military Lyceum in training future generations of military personnel.
Kobakhidze noted the institutions played a key role in ensuring long-term national security.
At the same time, he stressed that the armed forces remained ready to defend the country’s sovereignty and protect its citizens if required.
Addressing new conscripts, he said their military oath represents a significant responsibility in maintaining national security and stability.
