Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has praised Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and honorary chairman of the ruling party, for his leadership in ending the “bloody regime” in 2012 and for contributing to the country’s current peace and economic development.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Kobakhidze described Ivanishvili as the party’s leading figure and emphasised his continued importance in Georgian politics.

“The United Arab Emirates president’s visit was very important. You may recall there was scepticism about EMAAR’s $6 billion investment, which has since increased to $6.6 billion. This is one of the most significant investments to strengthen our economy,” Kobakhidze said. He added that some commentators had criticised the protocol for the visit at Ivanishvili’s residence, forgetting his political role and influence.

Kobakhidze stressed that all protocols were respected and that Georgia’s national interests were fully safeguarded. He said the visit would deepen bilateral partnerships with the UAE, both politically and economically, and highlighted ongoing discussions on trade and broader economic cooperation.

“This investment, alongside other initiatives, is extremely important for strengthening both our economy and our political ties,” he said.
