Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday credited the Trump administration with halting attacks on Georgia from the United States, linking this development to the administration’s fight against what he described as the “deep state”.

Speaking in an interview with Rustavi 2 Kobakhidze said, “There are no longer attacks against Georgia from the US, for which thanks are due to President Trump’s administration. The important thing is that the battle between the Trump administration and the deep state ultimately ends with a victory for Trump’s team”.

Kobakhidze also criticised European bureaucrats, alleging that they are directly involved in anti-state actions against Georgia’s national interests.

“European bureaucrats are fighting against the objective interests of the EU population and Georgia. They have no significant sentiments for the countries they govern. This includes undermining European economies and national identities, while a few countries, like Hungary, manage to protect their sovereignty and identity,” he said.

The Prime Minister accused EU representatives, including the EU ambassador to Georgia, of interfering in domestic politics.

“Ambassador Herczyński blatantly interfered in last year’s democratic parliamentary elections by urging voters to support the opposition. This reflects the tragic state of European bureaucracy,” Kobakhidze added.

He concluded that the Trump administration’s actions against the deep state represented a positive shift for Georgia, while Europe continued to pose challenges due to bureaucratic interference and disregard for national sovereignty.
