Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Education Minister Givi Mikhanadze have congratulated graduating students across the country as schools marked the traditional “last bell” ceremony for 12th-grade pupils.

In a message posted on social media on Wednesday, Kobakhidze told students that a completely new stage of life was beginning after the end of school.

“There is a great arena ahead for development and self-realisation,” the prime minister wrote. “I believe that through your talent and hard work, you will establish a worthy place in society.”

He added that the country’s future should be built on the energy and dedication of the younger generation and wished graduates success in achieving their goals.

Education Minister Mikhanadze also addressed graduating students, describing the end of school as both emotional and exciting.

“Today, one great adventure is ending for you, but a new and very interesting stage of life awaits ahead,” he said.

Mikhanadze said schools were places where the country’s future was shaped and encouraged students to remember the advice of teachers, friendships and memories formed during their school years.

He also stressed the importance of education serving the well-being of society and the country, urging graduates to pursue ambitious goals and believe in their own abilities.

The “last bell” ceremony is traditionally celebrated across Georgia by final-year school students marking the completion of secondary education.
