Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has congratulated students, teachers and parents on the start of the new academic year, highlighting education as a “cornerstone” of the country’s development and unity.

In a social media post on Monday, Kobakhidze extended special congratulations to those beginning school or university for the first time, describing it as “one of the most responsible and, at the same time, exciting stages of life”.

The official further stressed that “continuous education plays a vital role” in fostering critical thinking, recognising personal potential and shaping “dignified citizens”.

“The main companions of future generations on this journey are teachers and professors,” he said, expressing gratitude for their “tireless work” and thanking parents for their support, which he called “a great source of strength for children”.

The PM also added that in the face of modern global challenges, quality education remained a top priority for his government, calling it the foundation of Georgia’s unity, progress and strength.

He wished all students a “successful and fulfilling new academic year”.
