Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said that most political parties, including three of the four that crossed the electoral threshold and two others receiving state funding, have recognized the results of the October 26 elections.

Speaking to reporters, Kobakhidze noted that the party Lelo accepted the results by taking up a position in the Central Election Commission (CEC). He dismissed opposition claims of election illegitimacy, accusing some parties of attempting to destabilize the government under “instructions from their foreign patrons.”

“Everyone sees confidence in the legitimacy of the elections,” he said. “Some tried to change the government through violent methods, but they failed. Now, they are disoriented and inconsistent in their actions.”

Kobakhidze predicted that opposition MPs might join parliamentary sessions as early as February, or even earlier, when the next session begins. “One party refuses to recognize the results, but all others have. Their inconsistency reflects their failed strategy,” he added.
