Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized that the upcoming local self-government elections are not political contests in the narrow sense, but decisions about how cities and villages across Georgia will develop.

“This election is about urban and rural development, municipal infrastructure, public services, and healthcare improvements. It's not about political power games,” Kobakhidze told reporters.

He criticized the opposition for failing to grasp the true nature of the elections, claiming they are "cornered" and politically disoriented.

“They’re trapped — not just by Georgian Dream, but by the deep state as well,” he asserted. “The radical opposition was led to go all-in, and now they’ve ended up stuck. That’s not unfortunate — that’s fortunate.”
