Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said that the anniversary of Tbilisi State University serves as a reminder of the responsibility to restore the institution’s status as the country’s “mother university.”

In a social media post marking the university’s founding day, the Prime minister emphasised the historic role and mission of the university.

“Today is the founding day of Tbilisi State University! This day reminds us of our responsibility to return Tbilisi State University to the status of a mother university, as it was envisioned by Ivane Javakhishvili and his great associates,” Kobakhidze wrote.
