Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said that informal influences are a “highly relevant issue” across the European Union, commenting on recent decisions and statements affecting Georgia.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, he argued that what he described as absurd measures and declarations concerning Georgia are the result of such informal pressures.

“What we are seeing today in the European Union, including decisions and statements regarding Georgia that are clearly absurd, is all a consequence of informal influences. Throughout this period, we have pointed out that the same pressures come from specific individuals in the United States. Perhaps everyone should reflect on this,” Kobakhidze said.
