Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the recent parliamentary elections in Georgia were not only significant but also decisive, likening the process to a referendum on the country’s future. In an interview on the program Imedi TV, he emphasized the importance of the electoral outcome for Georgia’s development.

Kobakhidze highlighted that the election results were unequivocal for the nation’s progress, asserting, that the ruling Georgian Dream achieved a „very convincing victory.”

“Over 1,120,000 of our fellow citizens supported the Georgian Dream party and the plans we proposed to the Georgian public,” he said, describing the elections as a critical juncture that determined the fate of war and peace.

“This was a kind of referendum, where the fate of war and peace was at stake, and ultimately, the people made a choice in favor of peace. Peace is the main condition for development, and this choice will ensure the country’s peaceful, long-term, and stable development. There was no alternative to this,” Kobakhidze explained.

He expressed gratitude to the electorate for making a rational choice.

“I would like to thank our voters who assessed everything very correctly. Over the past four years, during very challenging circumstances, we always felt the support of the people, which was the main reason we managed to navigate difficult processes with dignity. Without the people’s support, experience, and wise decisions, the government alone could not have succeeded,” he noted.

Kobakhidze reiterated that the people stood on the side of the right decision, which he believes will ensure Georgia’s peaceful and stable development in the long run.
