Georgian PM accuses UK-based fund of advancing “deep state” agenda through ISFED

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has alleged that the UK-based funding of the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), a well-known Georgian NGO, is part of ongoing efforts by the so-called “deep state” to influence Georgia’s internal affairs.

Speaking to journalists in Kutaisi, Kobakhidze claimed that ISFED, which he referred to as “known for electoral fraud,” is no longer financed by USAID, but now receives support from a British foundation.

“This shows that the ‘deep state’ remains active. Although it has been weakened in the United States, it is now trying to use European structures more actively to pursue the same agenda seen in recent years,” he stated.

The Prime Minister further accused British institutions of being used as tools for foreign influence in Georgia, stressing that his government will continue to defend national interests against what he described as “foreign-funded, opaque practices.”

“When the interests of the ‘deep state’ clash with Georgia’s national interests, we will firmly stand on the side of our country,” Kobakhidze added, reaffirming his government’s commitment to resisting what he sees as external interference.
