Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday criticised a hearing held in Washington by the US Helsinki Commission, where Georgian opposition figures, former President Salome Zourabichvili and Tina Khidasheli, former Defence Minister of Georgia and current Chair of the Civil Idea NGO, spoke.
“Yesterday in Washington we saw modern-day Sergo Ordjonikidzes, which is, naturally, very regrettable,” Kobakhidze told reporters in response to a question about the session.
The Prime Minister said it was “tragic” when Georgians openly opposed their own state’s national interests.
“When a Georgian loses face, when a Georgian directly confronts the national interests of their own state, it is a tragic phenomenon. However, that is their tragedy,” he said.
Kobakhidze also commented on the involvement of Congressman Joe Wilson, who chaired the hearing.
“Joe Wilson is, first and foremost, a Deep State agent and then a paid lobbyist. He is both, but above all, a Deep State agent, just like Salome Zourabichvili and Tina Khidasheli,” he stated.
