Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday announced an ambitious Government objective for Georgia to secure a place among the top three European countries with the lowest levels of corruption.

Speaking at a briefing at the Government Administration, Kobakhidze emphasised that achieving this goal required the mobilisation of all state institutions, with a particular focus on the State Security Service. He thanked the Service and its head, Mamuka Mdinaradze, for actively stepping up efforts in this direction.

“Fighting crime, including corruption, is one of the government’s main priorities. Our agencies have become especially active in recent months in addressing organised crime, drug-related offenses, and illegal possession of weapons. We will continue taking a firm stance against all types of crime,” the Prime Minister said.

Kobakhidze underlined that combating corruption will remain a central focus: “We will be absolutely principled and uncompromising in the fight against corruption. Our ambitious goal is to place Georgia among the top three countries in Europe in terms of low corruption. This requires the mobilization of every institution, and particularly the SUS, which has already intensified its work.”
