Georgia will introduce a new electronic system for market research as part of efforts to increase transparency in public procurement, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced on Friday.

Kobakhidze said the initiative will eliminate direct arrangements between purchasing organisations and companies, ensuring fairer competition and reducing corruption risks.

“This is a very important initiative that rules out deals between contracting authorities and relevant companies,” the prime minister said at a government meeting. “Everything will be fully transparent, and fair competition will be completely ensured.”

He added that the reform was expected to improve cost efficiency in state purchases and raise the quality of completed works.

Kobakhidze said the move built on recent efforts aimed at strengthening the fight against corruption, which he described as a continuing priority for the government.
