Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced that the government’s ambitious goal to establish Georgia as a regional leader in technology and innovation. Speaking at the presentation of the Kutaisi Technology Hub concept on Friday, he emphasized the importance of fostering an innovative ecosystem and outlined key reforms aimed at achieving this objective.

“Our ambitious goal is for Georgia to become a regional leader in technology and innovation, which will drive further development in all sectors and attract more investment from around the world,” said Kobakhidze. “Supporting the innovative ecosystem is a priority for us, and this is the focus of the reforms we are implementing in this direction.”

As part of these reforms, Kobakhidze revealed that a legislative package has been prepared, offering a 0% tax regime for all Georgian innovative startup companies during their first three years of operation. This initiative is designed to stimulate the growth of new technology enterprises and encourage entrepreneurship within the country.

In addition to the tax incentives, Kobakhidze announced a major international development: the establishment of a Georgian technology hub in San Francisco’s Silicon Valley. “This hub will help Georgian startups expand and serve as a bridge between Georgian startups, leading venture capital funds, and global tech giants,” he said. The move is expected to significantly boost Georgia’s startup ecosystem by connecting it with the world’s leading tech companies and investors.

Kobakhidze expressed his confidence that Georgia will emerge as a leader in technology development across the broader region and highlighted the crucial role the Kutaisi Technology Hub will play in this process.

He also extended his gratitude to those involved in realizing the project, particularly the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Innovation and Technology Agency, the First Deputy Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. “I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making this project a reality,” he concluded.
