Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday criticised the conduct of Germany’s Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, stating that the diplomat’s actions have become so “unserious” that the Government is unsure whether they merit a formal response.
Responding to a question regarding possible diplomatic steps, the Prime Minister said that while the Foreign Ministry may consider specific procedures, the nature of the Ambassador’s behaviour complicates the issue.
“His actions have become so unserious that we do not even know whether assigning any serious weight to them is justified. You see that he repeatedly and blatantly violates specific provisions of the Vienna Convention and directly contradicts every diplomatic standard. It is absolutely unserious”, he said.
Kobakhidze added that the Government’s attitude toward the Ambassador and his conduct is “very light”, given the nature of the alleged violations.
The Prime Minister noted that any formal diplomatic action, if taken, would be determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, potentially in consultation with the Government.
