Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said Georgia’s Ministry of Infrastructure had exceeded its first-quarter spending plan by 107 percent.

Speaking at a government meeting, Kobakhidze noted that the overspending reflected the utilisation of funds carried over from last year.

He said that to prevent corruption and improper practices, several infrastructure projects were paused last year, leaving approximately 400 million lari unspent. These funds were transferred to the ministry’s 2026 budget.

“In this context, exceeding the allocated budget by 107 percent is particularly significant, both for advancing infrastructure projects and for stimulating economic growth,” the prime minister said.

He thanked the Minister of Infrastructure for the ministry’s performance and for successfully implementing the budget plan ahead of schedule.
