Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday expressed condolences over the passing of former US President Jimmy Carter, lauding him as a global advocate for peace, democracy, and human rights.

“Former US President Jimmy Carter will always be remembered in Georgia as an advocate of peace, democracy, and human rights in the world,” Kobakhidze said in his social media post. He extended his “deepest condolences to the Carter family over the loss of such an inspiring person who defended US interests and universal values in the face of many challenges.”

Carter, who served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, was widely recognized for his commitment to humanitarian efforts and the promotion of democratic values worldwide.
