Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday claimed the Interior Minister assumed full responsibility for the “conclusive” information that Camite, a prohibited chemical agent, was not used during anti-government protests late last year.

Speaking at a briefing at the Government Administration, Kobakhidze urged the public to wait for the results of the official investigation, which he said will identify every substance found in the powder collected at the scene.

“The Interior Minister takes responsibility for the definitive information that Camite was not used. This information is conclusive. When the investigation is completed, detailed findings will be presented to the public and the media,” the Prime Minister said.

Kobakhidze explained that ruling out the presence of a specific substance was technically easier than analyzing the entire chemical spectrum, and that the conclusion regarding Camite had already been established through formal procedures.

“It has already been determined, through the relevant procedures, that the powder did not contain Camite. The investigation will continue to identify all remaining components, and this information will be shared with the public,” he said.

According to Kobakhidze, both the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs were working on the case.

“Let us wait for the official investigation and its results,” he added.
