Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced at today’s Government meeting that amendments would be introduced to the law to clearly define the conditions of privatisation.

He said the practice introduced over the past year and a half - since the formation of the new Government - would now be consolidated at the legislative level.

“When we speak about cost optimisation and the overall efficiency of Government activities, it is important to highlight the issue of privatisation. Over the past year and a half, we have practically abandoned the practice of direct privatisation of state property. Now, we want to regulate this matter at the legislative level as well. The law will be amended to precisely outline the conditions of privatisation, thereby reinforcing the practice we have already established,” Kobakhidze said.
