Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze says Tbilisi has reaffirmed to American partners its readiness to reset bilateral relations and renew the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States through a “specific roadmap.”
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze said Georgian and US representatives held “interesting meetings” this week focused on the future of Georgian-American relations and possible steps toward restoring closer cooperation.
“We once again confirmed to our American partners our readiness to reset relations and renew the strategic partnership with a concrete roadmap,” the Prime Minister said, adding that Georgia is now waiting for “reciprocal steps” from the US side.
Kobakhidze also said discussions included preparations for Georgia’s 2028 parliamentary elections, which he described as part of the Government’s long-term political planning.
The Prime Minister argued that relations between Tbilisi and Washington had deteriorated under the previous US administration, which he accused of acting unfairly toward Georgia. According to Kobakhidze, the current situation can only be improved through what he called a “fair approach” from the new administration.
