PM Kobakhidze calls for roadmap to reset Georgia-US strategic partnership

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday called for a roadmap to reset and formalise the country's strategic partnership with the United States, saying the time had come to define shared priorities, practical cooperation mechanisms and clear strategic goals.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the US Embassy in Tbilisi to mark US Independence Day, Kobakhidze said Georgia remained committed to strengthening bilateral ties despite challenges in recent years.

"Despite the challenges of recent years, we still believe the time has come to reset our strategic partnership through a concrete roadmap that defines shared priorities, practical mechanisms for cooperation and clear strategic objectives," he said.

The Prime Minister said Georgia had been a "loyal, reliable and responsible partner" of the United States for decades, consistently cooperating with Washington on regional security issues and supporting US strategic priorities when requested.

Kobakhidze also argued that the South Caucasus was becoming increasingly important in both regional and global geopolitical terms, saying Georgia's role was critical amid the region's growing strategic significance.

He added that Georgia was ready to engage in direct dialogue with the United States to establish a renewed partnership based on mutual respect, fairness and tangible results for both countries.
