Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the Government will continue to act with what he described as “maximum restraint” in responding to political tensions and alleged attempts to destabilise the country.

Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze said recent reshuffles within the Interior Ministry had helped authorities respond to what he called another attempted overthrow of the Government without causing harm to citizens.

“Despite very serious systemic violence, we managed to confront another attempt to overthrow the Government in such a way that not a single hair fell from anyone’s head,” the Prime Minister said.

Kobakhidze described the events of 4 October as an example of the Government’s “signature approach,” adding that the same policy would continue in the future.

He also said personnel changes in the Interior Ministry reflected the Government’s effort to maintain high standards in handling security-related issues and incidents involving violence.
