Prime Minister and ruling Georgian Dream party chairman Irakli Kobakhidze reiterated his full support for Kakha Kaladze’s bid for a third term as Tbilisi Mayor, stating that Kaladze's leadership over the past eight years has been key to the capital's transformation.

Speaking at an event to present majoritarian candidates for Tbilisi City Council, Kobakhidze said:

“Just a few days ago, we launched our election campaign and presented our candidate for Tbilisi Mayor – Kakha Kaladze. I want to once again wish him victory, something Tbilisi truly needs for its continued development over the next four years.”

The Prime Minister highlighted the changes the city has undergone since Kaladze first took office in 2017, describing Tbilisi as “more beautiful, greener, more developed, and more full of life” than it was eight years ago.

“This is, first and foremost, thanks to Kakha Kaladze. As an ordinary citizen of Tbilisi, I want to express my sincere gratitude to him,” Kobakhidze said.
“I also want to thank all members of the Tbilisi government and every employee at City Hall, who work every day to solve the city’s problems and contribute to its development.”

Kaladze, a former football star and Energy Minister, is seeking a third consecutive term amid both praise for his urban development efforts and criticism from opposition groups over issues like housing, public transport, and transparency.

The municipal elections are set to be held on ctober 4, in what is widely seen as a key test of Georgian Dream’s continued dominance amid growing international scrutiny and domestic political tension.
