Kobakhidze said certain supermarket networks had already introduced price reductions on specific products

Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, has thanked several retail chains for taking steps to reduce prices, describing the measures as important for consumers.

Kobakhidze said certain supermarket networks had already introduced price reductions on specific products.

“First of all, I would like to thank specific retail chains for taking concrete steps towards lowering prices, which is very important,” the prime minister said.

Commenting on medium-term economic measures, Kobakhidze said a parliamentary commission had identified structural problems affecting the supply chain.

He claimed addressing those issues would shorten supply chains and contribute directly to lower consumer prices.

“This will require further work, but in the medium term it will also produce results,” he added.
