Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze congratulated Mikheil Kavelashvili on officially assuming the role of President of Georgia, describing him as a “worthy and patriotic individual” who will serve the country with honor over the next five years.
“I want to congratulate Mikheil Kavelashvili on assuming the presidency of Georgia. He is a worthy, patriotic individual, and I am confident that he will serve his country with dignity in this crucial role over the next five years. I wish him success in all respects, as the challenges ahead are significant,” said Kobakhidze.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Georgia has not had a “patriotic president” for over 20 years, and Kavelashvili is tasked with establishing a new tradition.
“For over two decades, this country has lacked a patriotic president. Mikheil Kavelashvili now has the responsibility of setting a new standard after this 20-year gap. It is a great responsibility, but I am confident that he will excel in fulfilling it,” Kobakhidze added.
Mikheil Kavelashvili, a former professional footballer, was elected as Georgia’s sixth president through an indirect voting system, marking a significant shift in the nation’s political landscape.
