Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday praised ambassadors for their efforts to defend the country’s national interests over the past year.

Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze described Georgia’s diplomats as highly capable and dedicated, noting that they consistently do everything possible to advance and protect the country’s interests abroad.

“We have a very worthy diplomatic corps and very worthy ambassadors who are doing the utmost to safeguard our national interests. Accordingly, I would like to thank each ambassador for everything they have done over the past year,” the Prime Minister said.

Commenting on expectations for the coming year, Kobakhidze highlighted that much would depend on global developments, including political processes in the European Union and the United States, as well as the course of the war in Ukraine.

“A great deal will depend on global processes, how developments unfold in the European Union, in the United States and around the war in Ukraine. We will continue to work actively to protect our national interests. What we have successfully achieved in previous years, we will continue to do in the years ahead,” Kobakhidze added.
