Peace and security are essential for the protection of human rights and the achievement of sustainable development, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated during his speech at the Summit of the Future, which was held within the framework of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly on Monday. The event was organized by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Namibian President Hage Geingob.

Kobakhidze highlighted that the Pact for the Future will contribute to global peace and security, rooted in the principles of the UN Charter.

“The summit has created a platform to strengthen international cooperation, and now the main task will be to implement the commitments in practice,” he said.

Kobakhidze also emphasized the importance of the Digital Compact, which will outline a plan for an open and secure digital future where technology will be used to protect human rights and promote global prosperity.

“We believe it is crucial to incorporate the perspectives of future generations into our policy frameworks, ensuring the long-term impact of our actions is considered and protected. The Declaration on Future Generations is necessary to ensure their voices are heard and their interests safeguarded,” he added.

The Prime Minister noted that the summit laid the foundation for enhanced global cooperation, and the next critical step will be the practical implementation of the commitments to build a better tomorrow.
