Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday said the Government had achieved financial savings as a result of reforms aimed at eliminating “inefficient practices”, with the Government Administration’s Efficiency Department saving a total of ₾292 million ($108.80mln).
Speaking at a Government meeting, Kobakhidze said one of the key steps involved ending the practice of direct privatisation of state property, which had now been almost completely discontinued. He said this change had directly contributed to improving the effectiveness of Government operations.
The Prime Minister noted the Government exceeded its privatisation plan by placing virtually all state-owned property up for auction, allowing the state to maximise revenues from each privatisation transaction.
He also highlighted reforms in public tenders and procurement, saying the process had become fully transparent, including through the creation of a dedicated electronic platform. Kobakhidze said these changes help minimise corruption risks and further enhance Government efficiency.
